Product strategy

Clients often come to us to improve an existing product, create a new product or create demand by being useable and useful to users. In any case we start by developing a clear product vision and mapping out a strategy together with the client. Based on the most advanced methodologies in the industry, Ginetta created a unique and powerful process to develop products in a lean way. With continuous stakeholder and user feedback we ensure the final product meets user desirability, is technically feasible and viable for your business.

Concept design

Based on the vision, we work with you to define the product concept. This concept incorporates both, your business objectives as well as potential user expectations. We then analyze user needs to derive functional requirements. These requirements define the scope of the project. If requirements already exist we validate them against user needs to identify any missing features or unnecessary complexity. Next, we organize the required information essentially creating a map of the product. We do this by aligning the conceptual model to the mental model of the user. This makes sure that the final information architecture feels simple and intuitive.

We now organize the relevant content on the screen. We apply visual hierarchy and other gestalt principles to guide the user through their tasks. In order for users to achieve their goals efficiently and effortlessly, the user flow needs to feel natural and simple. We create these elegant page layouts through a clickable prototype that is easy to test with real users. Finally, we optimize the interplay of user action (hover, click, tap, swipe, etc.), content areas (titles, paragraphs, images, etc.) and control elements (menus, buttons, forms, etc.).

At this point, we start to design the look & feel of the surface. In many ways, this is the most creative and delicate part of the process. We use a combination of typography, visual arts and page layout techniques to create styles that are custom fit for you. We seek to give the design a unique touch that sets the product apart from your competition and triggers memory responses for the users. We then apply this design aesthetic to all of the elements on the screen. In this phase, paying close attention to detail is of utmost importance and contributes to a design that is beautiful, balanced, and engaging.

At Ginetta, the frontend team is involved early in the design process. The web has changed from a primarily static medium viewed from a desktop computer, to a dynamic and interactive platform experienced from a variety of devices. Our in-house development team is able to leverage cutting edge techniques to provide responsive, smooth and scalable implementations of our designs. Being in constant communication with our design team means we are far faster than working independently.

Finally, we optimize and refine the product to create stunning experiences and further increase user engagement. During this phase, we can take a variety of measures. Some can be technology driven: reduction of initial load time, multi-screen compatibility, search engine growth (SEO); and some can be business driven: conversion improvements, usage analytics, A/B testing, and user surveys.
